Founded in 2020 by Rebecca Sack and Aude Louis Carvès, the gallery specialises in modern and contemporary Asian artists.
Our research on the aesthetics and reflexion of Asian artists who chose France as their territory of expression is articulated around two axes :
Japanese painters of the Nouvelle Ecole de Paris, from 1950 to 1975 and contemporary Korean creation of the 21st century, painting and ceramics.
The project emerged from a shared passion for post-war Japanese painting and crossed trajectories on the art market. After years spent in Asia and China, Rebecca Sack becomes director of the gallery Jacques Barrère in 2012. She holds a master degree in Chinese language and International Relations from the LSE. Graduated in Art history, Aude Louis Carves created the Asian art department of Aguttes auction house before joining Bonhams in 2015 as head of Asian art in France.
The gallery is located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris, amidst the historical Cour de Rohan. Japanese post-war paintings along with creations of Asian contemporary ceramics are regularly on display.
