For the 2024 edition of the Salon du Dessin, Galerie Louis & Sack will be bringing its two specialties together for the first time, on the theme of "collision". A meeting between two cultures, two resonant eras, through the Japanese masters of the New School of Paris and two contemporary Korean artists, whose aesthetic and philosophical research converge around paper, an ancestral medium in Asia.
Hisao Domoto (1928-2013) and Toshimitsu Imai (1928-2002) share the vivid force of their calligraphic gestures, echoing the contemplative horizon lines of Lee Hyun Joung (b.1972), which come to life on his hanji paper. The textured universe of Key Sato (1906-1978) dialogues with the minimalist works of Seungsoo Baek (b.1979) through the symbolism of signs and light.
The gallery is delighted to offer this new exhibition highlighting its modern and contemporary artists: on this occasion, Lee Hyunjoung and Seungsoo Baek will create works exclusively for the Salon du Dessin.
