For its debut at Art Paris, the Louis & Sack Gallery is delighted to present an exceptional duo exhibition featuring the two Korean artists, Lee Hyun Joung (b. 1972) and Seungsoo Baek (b. 1979). This showcase unveils a series of previously unseen works, highlighting their distinctive artistic practices.
Lee Hyun Joung continues her exploration of Hanji, traditional Korean paper, which she transforms into intricate, undulating reliefs. She then applies black or blue lines of Korean ink (Muk), tracing delicate paths across the textured surface, breathing life into the material.
Seungsoo Baek is a multidisciplinary artist who experiments across various media, including canvas, paper, and sculpture. He incorporates unconventional materials such as polystyrene and elastomer, alongside ink and acrylic. His work reflects an unceasing quest for renewal, in which he tries to translate his visions of the immaterial.
This joint exhibition immerses visitors in a dialogue between Korean heritage and contemporary artistic expression, offering a contemplative journey through uncharted creative landscapes. Lee Hyun Joung and Seungsoo Baek have exhibited in France, Belgium, Germany, the United States, and Korea, and have participated in renowned international art fairs such as Asia Now, Salon du Dessin, and FAB Paris with Louis & Sack.
